Our client stands as one of the largest and most respected engineering firms in the UK, is actively looking for an experienced Principal or Associate Mechanical Engineer.  Renowned for their unique working culture, innovative and sustainable approach to engineering design incorporating cutting-edge technologies and techniques to create environmentally friendly high-performance buildings, spanning a cross-section of sectors including Education, Healthcare, Leisure, Residential, Commercial and Defence developments.

As a Principal or Associate Mechanical Engineer, you will secure and deliver projects with existing clients while also developing new client relationships and supporting the regional lead.

You will be taking the lead on varied Property Services projects to deliver and provide technical support to clients.  These projects are predominantly UK but there will be some overseas opportunities.

Principal or Associate Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Collaboration with clients and project teams is key to delivering high-quality, sustainable designs.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the team, placing strong emphasis on project ownership delivery
  • Build a successful team by providing support with the recruitment, training and development

What they’re looking for:

  • Qualified Design Engineer with chartered status or actively working towards it
  • Experience in Post-Occupancy Services and mechanical design with hands-on site knowledge
  • Familiarity with property and related aspects, including refurbishment and fit-out projects in existing buildings
  • Ability to write technical reports such as feasibility studies, issue investigations, and condition surveys
  • Involvement in performance specifications, contract administration, and site duties
  • Experience in monitoring commissioning and witnessing activities
  • Strong client liaison skills with commercial and project management awareness
  • Comprehensive experience in Building Services
  • Capability to independently undertake design, specification, and site monitoring
  • Strong technical knowledge of primary engineering disciplines and relevant UK and EU regulations
  • Good understanding of secondary engineering disciplines
  • Project management skills to manage projects and mitigate technical and commercial risks
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Organizational and planning skills to meet timescales and deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills to develop effective relationships
  • Proven track record in work-winning and team building
